We got married eight years ago, a lavish wedding in those days. My family doesn't need to take care of anything. Wedding ceremonies to luxurious receptions in star hotels are taken care of by my husband's family. My mother-in-law, Katya wants to make sure everyone looks proud. The only son was married and I was the ideal daughter-in-law according to her. At that time, I was the queen for that day and Mas Hafid was the king. We are a happy couple. Almost a week of honeymoon with love in Bali made us a couple of the year. However, we are two young doctors who work in the number one hospital in our country.
The story like a cinderella, of course, like the original fairy tale will end because of the influence of evil magic that surrounds the lives of the princes and princesses of the fairyland. Only a special spell could break that magic, but I was too tired to wait for that spell to come when I was crushed by the heartache that was shaking my entire pores more and more.
It all started three years after Pras's birth. No ... it's not my son the reason we have to end this endless drama. But Mas Havid decided to invite other women into our household. At that time, my two in-laws, who thought I was the ideal son-in-law at the beginning of our relationship, turned on the side of Tiara, my honey. Which turned out to have been married illegally a year after our marriage because she had been pregnant before. The additional reason is that Tiara is the child of their colleague who was promised an arranged marriage when she was little. However, due to the distance between the two families and long interrupted communication, chat about matchmaking was no longer continued.
A year after the inauguration of the hospital, which was jointly managed by my in-laws and Tiara's parents, as they had dreamed, the chaos of our household began. Even though I am also a doctor, working in the same hospital, I am neither the owner nor the shareholder. Unlike Tiara and her parents. I was just a doctor who graduated with c*m laud from a bona fide campus with a scholarship who was then recruited by the hospital after undergoing a co-election period and then continued to be a resident in the same place.
Cinderella did but the story is not as dramatic as that because after Pras was seven years old, I decided to go away from them, going out of their reach without any support. Divorce is impossible for me to take care of because Mas Hafid and his parents don't want it. For me it's not that they are reluctant to let me go, it's just waiting for the right time to get rid of me by not reaping the storm so that they become a field of gossip for their two families and will also affect the hospital business they are managing.
From several conversations with Tiara behind my husband and in-laws, Tiara never stopped ensuring that the child she was carrying would one day bear the big name of the Haryadi Sanjaya family, not my son. And soon after their child was born, they would immediately announce their marriage. Automatically, I, who should never have been present in the Sanjaya family, should know myself and leave before that time. According to him, I was a mistake when they were apart, I was just a supervisor of time or a time filler until Tiara returned to his position.
I'm still trying to survive because Pras needs both of his parents and he is too young to understand this situation. However, when Pras fell down the stairs as a result of trying to ask his father to carry him, at the same time as Tiara, who complained of stomach pain, I thought about taking a stand. Pras is no longer a priority for Mas Hafid. And the "fake" complaint of Tiara's stomach pain would keep repeating itself to ensure that Pras was not allowed to get close to his papa. And the presence of Tiara in our house ensures that. Mas Hafid and my two in-laws agreed that Tiara's presence at our house was to make it easier for Mas Hafid to take care of her while she was pregnant and of course my two in-laws also often stayed at our house to ensure Tiara's condition was maintained.
Has anyone confirmed the condition of Pras and me? The answer is of course not there. I try my best not to be at home often working in the hospital and even offering to work shift hours my colleagues are considered mothers who neglect children. My in-laws who see me often come home at night and even in the morning often mention that if I can't take care of their grandchildren, I better leave it to Tiara because Tiara is a mother who is willing to leave her career as a doctor to become a complete housewife to be able to care for her husband and future children.
I tried to hold on until Pras's condition became more stable and I asked him to go, because since he was born Pras had a heart defect that made him have to take a rest with a regular diet. Even though his medical condition is not dangerous, if I insist on bringing Pras with no certainty about where to stay and have a permanent job to support us then it is a bad choice. Pras's condition is a priority for my consideration of taking a stand on the end of our fairy tale kingdom.
There are several new housing options with a high need for medical personnel, for example, Palu, which has just been hit by a disaster. But of course, it will not be conducive for Pras. Then God answered my prayer, one of my colleagues who took the same resident, a pediatrician told me that there was a vacancy for a pediatrician in Kalimantan, but in a small district hospital. According to him, it will not match the amount of salary I have received before, only a quarter of it. But for me, it is enough. Even though it will be mediocre but it will be enough for the three of us. I also invited Bi Asiah to be with us to help me look after Pras when I had to work.
Our trip to Borneo Island was not easy. I have to confirm leg airfare a month in advance. Make sure we can go when Mas Havid and Tiara's engagement process takes place so that no one is home. Ensure the rented house there is clean with a distance that is not too far from the hospital so that I can monitor Pras's condition during rest or come directly to the emergency call from Bi Asiah to call. All I have to confirm in such away. And most importantly none of my colleagues, either directly or indirectly, will recognize us when we start a new life there.
Our trip was fairly easy, snacks and medical supplies in case Pras suddenly needed them, were available neatly. We only have two suitcases for clothes, each with Pras and Me in one suitcase and Bi Asiah in one suitcase. Even though there is more Pras equipment in it, it doesn't matter to me, but later I can buy something else there or adjust to the situation. But I have to prioritize Pras equipment, children will need a lot of equipment that may not be available.
Our trip on the commercial plane for one and a half hours did not have a bad effect on Pras, he was very comfortable even though it was his first flight in economy class. Pras always chatted happily when he saw the lumpy clouds outside the cabin. Ask about the food menu served. And the funny things in the movies he watched in the plane cabin. Bi Asiah was also so calm that we arrived at the rented house by taxi. Our struggle then began without the bustle of big-name pressure from the big Sanjaya family. We have become a new family with the status of my husband who has passed away.
