DANIEL
Yolanda left me all here alone, angry and crying. I feel bad for throwing a bomb like this at her, but I am glad I did because at least she knows my intentions. I just have a lot going on right now so I cannot put my focus on her right now. I also need to give her time to think about us, and I also do not want to pressure her about this. I want to take it slow with her and get to know her differently from being my stepdaughter.
I stand up and head to the villa. All the guards are in position, so I check on the girls if they are all sleeping in their room. I head to my sleeping area to get a jacket and turn off all the lights before I get out of the house. I take my phone out of my pocket to track down the ship which should be arriving at the dock in fifteen to twenty minutes. I will be meeting Capo and the other wolves there because we have a business to do here.
“Is everything ready?” I ask the guards.
“Yes, Alpha. The motor yacht is ready to take you to the docks,” One guard responds.
“You two, come with me, and the three of you should watch this villa with your lives. My girls are in there.” I instruct.
***
We arrive at the dock in almost seven minutes. I was the one driving the motor yacht, and if there were speed tickets given in the ocean, I would have probably gotten a few because damn, I was piloting the yacht like I was drunk.
I get off the boat and step onto the platform where I find Capo already waiting alone. My ship seems to be running late, and I have no patience.
“Capo, where is my ship?”
Without saying a word, he hands me the binoculars. I take them and use them to look at the ocean in the direction that he is pointing. I see the ship being escorted by marine patrol officers, and I do not doubt that those are the wolves. I taught them well.
The shipment will be here in five minutes, so I will use this time to talk business with Capo.
“I need you to represent me at Our Thing again this year,” I start. Our Thing is normally called Cosa Nostra, and it is an event done annually for rich and notorious Mafia gang leaders ranking at the top. I have never attended not even one event because I prefer remaining in camouflage where nobody knows who the Alpha is.
“Why don’t we skip it this year, Alpha?”
“You can’t. We need to form new alliances. I have already taken three mafia families down, and from my side, it is not good. We need to expand our businesses with potential alliances to solidify our family,”
“Are we in trouble?” He worriedly asks.
“No, but imagine if we were diplomats. We would be untouchable and unstoppable. I have big plans for us, Capo,” I look at the ship that is almost here, and just then, a car stops behind us. The person gets out of the car and opens the back door for another person to come out, and it is just the person I was expecting.
“Gentlemen,” He greets as he waltzes towards us.
Capo turns his face and looks at me. I nod at him, giving him a go to talk.
“Professor, the shipment will be here in just a minute. Where is the money?”
“Shipment first, gentlemen. That is how I do business,”
The way you do business will get you killed. I don’t say it out loud though.
I turn around and walk towards the ship that just stopped near the platform. Before I get on the ship, I turn and look back at the professor.
“Get that money ready,” I say and enter the ship.
The people inside direct me to where my merch is. The merch is forty boxes full of drugs, and not those that kill people, but those that heal. People are sick out here and they are desperate for medication. I happen to be at their rescue because someone whispered to this professor about me. I decided to do this personally because anything could go wrong, and I won’t let any of my wolves be incarcerated or executed in a foreign country. I need this to go according to order.
I get to the basement of the ship and all my boxes are there, still sealed the same way they left the warehouse with my Alpha logo.
The professor walks in a little later with his guards, each holding a big bag before they throw them on the floor. The wolves open the bags and look if my money is all in there. It is all in Rupees. I am frustrated that I am going to have to launder it when we get to back South Africa.
“It is all in there, my friend. Four point five million Rupees,” He seems honest.
“Professor, you sure do sound like an honest man, and to be honest, this does not look like your thing. You are a good guy, which makes me wonder whom you are working for. But as long as you and I don’t know each other and have never met, we are good. But I want you to listen to me carefully,” I step closer to him, leaving no space between us, and whisper in his ear. “I am Alpha, and I have no mercy on people who betray me,” He gasps and his lips tremble.
“You-you are Alpha?” He stutters.
“In the flesh. I am normally hiding in the shadows, but I felt like showing myself off today. Like what you see?”
I simper and order the wolves to get the boxes out.
“Call Capo in here and give us some privacy,” I command everyone to leave.
As soon as Capo gets here, we start talking business. Business on vacation, huh? If my wife was here, this would have never happened. Vacations to her meant cutting off the world and having family time.
“Oh, and this money cannot go back with the ship. I need you to fly back to South Africa. I have booked you all into a guesthouse. We should all leave now before the real cops arrive,”
“Yes, Alpha,” He picks up the bags, and just before we both could leave, he asks.
“How is the girl?” He asks, catching me off guard.
“You mean Yolanda?” I ask, and he nods.
I told Capo about her. I am very close to Capo because he is my brother that nobody knows about. He was arrested when he was twenty-five, and our parents disowned him. He served three years in jail for attempted murder and robbery. Ever since he got out, he never set foot at our parents’ house. I am the only family ever since, and since they disowned him, my relationship with our parents has never been the same anymore.
“I am stepping back for now,” I tell him.
“I still think it is a bad idea. It was already hard when you married Mary, and Yolanda is young and your dead wife’s daughter. It is a bad idea, Daniel. Everything that you did back when your wife was still here was limited, and you know that it is not good to have a woman when you are a mafia,”
“Try falling in love and see if you will say that again. You know, I thought Mary and I would have had a baby boy, with years of trying with no luck of pregnancy signs, we had to stop trying because we were both getting old. Do you understand why I want someone young now? I specifically want Yolanda,”
“You are serious when you say that you want a baby boy, aren’t you?”
I chuckle.
“You have no idea. My girls are all grown now, and they will get married one day and change from my last name to their husbands. At least when and if I have a baby boy, it will be different. Yolanda is the closest thing to Mary, and I am drawn to her, man. Never have I ever in my life did I ever imagine that a young girl would drive me crazy. The age gap is big,”
“It is very huge, bro. It’s not good, and I won’t say I am comfortable with it, but what can I say?”
“Get a girl, Capo. You will get to experience the best of it,” He looks at me with a straight face with no emotions.
Something moves in the basement, and I quickly get my gun out. Capo drops the bags and pulls his gun out too. I thought no one was in here. Who the f**k is eavesdropping on us?
We start looking around the crates.
“What the f**k!?” Capo shouts. I scurry to where he is, and I am also in shock to see what is before me.
“Untie her. I am getting everyone back on this ship. They have some explaining to do,” I growl, angrily and march out of the basement.
After calling everyone back in, including the two pilots of this ship, they nervously stand without saying a word because they know what they have done.
“Anyone who cares to explain what the f**k is happening in my ship?” I ask, standing in front of them. Ten seconds pass, and no one says anything. “Do I f*****g have to repeat my question?”
“No, Alpha; but can you tell us what you are asking about?” The Gamma asks because I put him in charge of my ship.
“My wife was an activist against women and children abuse. I don’t touch women because I respect them; now why the f**k is there a woman down there tied up and scared? Why is there a woman in my f*****g ship being trafficked! How the f**k is this even happening in my f*****g ship, Gamma!”
“Alpha, I swear I had no idea that this happened. I don’t know how it happened because I have never seen her, I swear!”
“Whoever did this is going to pay! You better come out because if I find you, it’s going to be bad for you!”
Capo runs up with the woman in his arms.
“She is dehydrated. I am getting her out of here,” Capo quickly says, rushing out.
“Did you see that? Now, I know that some of you are responsible for that, and I am going to be responsible for your deaths. I am on vacation and normally, I would let things go but that… I don’t mind spending the whole night here doing this, so you better start f*****g talking and stop wasting my f*****g time!” I c**k my gun and carefully look for the suspicious one. I am never wrong when I suspect someone, so after a minute without even thinking about it, I shoot the younger pilot in his arm.
He screams and falls down, crying.
“Start f*****g talking,”
“Please, sir… we did nothing wrong,” The older pilot says.
“I shot him, now you say we? You just confirmed my suspicions about both of you. Who are you working for? Are you using my ship to traffic women?”
“No, we did not see her,”
“Don’t f*****g lie!”
“Muhammed!” The younger pilot finally bursts.
“What?”
“We did not want to do this, but Mohammed threatened us with our families. He knew about the shipping, so he got the girls on the ship from South Africa. We have sisters and mothers; this is not what we wanted to do. Please, sir, our families’ lives are in danger!”
“Did you accept any compensation?” I sternly ask.
“We needed the money,” The older pilot cries out.
“f**k!!!” I shoot him dead between his eyes. “Accepting money because you need it does not make you any innocent. You worked for me, and you both should have come to me first because this is my f*****g ship! I think it is about time I visit my dear friend Mohammed. He is starting to piss me off. Get this man cleaned up because I have plans and get rid of the dead body. I will see you all in the morning.”
This is not what I had in mind when I said that I am going on a vacation with my family. I am going to make anyone who makes it any worse pay with their lives. I will check on Capo later.
