DANIEL
With a heavy heart, I walk into the hospital, dragging my feet. I’ve never felt so scared as I am feeling right now — my body is shivering like a chicken that has been poured with cold water. It took me so long to get here because I was driving around to clear my head.
This was when Richard called me. He was so calm and sounded broken on the phone when he told me to come to the hospital, and that is when I knew that something is wrong. I did not ask any questions but just drove; I mean, anything worse could happen.
I arrive at the ward Richard directed me to, and I find him standing outside. He notices me and instantly gives me a deadly stare. If only looks could kill, I would be in my grave right now.
I breathe out nervously and clear my throat.
“How is she?” I ask.
