Nathan paid the money and took the bags from Sharon's hands. "I'm a gentleman."
Sharon felt embarrassed. He paid the money for her, and now even volunteered to carry these bags, which made her feel moved.
"What's on your mind! Let's go."
"I will pay you back. All of these are expensive."
Though Sharon was the young lady of the Evans family, she was always thrifty and didn't enjoy buying brands.
"No, you don't have to do that. I'm happy to get things for you."
His gentle voice and bright smile warmed Sharon.
...
They went back to the villa.
"It's late. Have a good sleep." Nathan said to Sharon.
Sharon suddenly asked, "Are there only two rooms in your house? Why is there such an open space on the second floor?"
"I like the open space."
Sharon was thinking about his words. This villa was located in a strange place, and the layouts of it were also strange.
"Your room is on the second floor. I sleep here."
Sharon nodded. She had to find out the truth as soon as possible because she didn't want to bother him too long. The study was large and there was also a bedroom in the study. She said, "Let me sleep here. You go to the second floor."
"You know, I'm a gentleman. Go."
As he spoke, he laid down the sofa, and it now became a simple bed. Sharon went upstairs.
Her room was also large with a study, fitness room, and bedroom. She had never lived in such a large room, and it was nice. She sat down and sighed. The whole day was like a nightmare for her that kept appearing once and once again in her mind.
Large room and loneliness made the night even longer. Sharon didn't sleep well this night.
When the morning came, rays of sunshine made the large room even brighter and cleaner.
"Morning. Breakfast is ready."
"Thanks."
Breakfast was served on the table when Sharon went downstairs. She even didn't expect that this man was so good at cooking. It seemed that he was also an ordinary man. After all, rich guys like her friends didn't know how to cook, including herself.
"How about it?"
"It's so good. I never cook, so I have no right to be picky."
The short conversation and warm lights in the morning made the atmosphere easier.
"It's okay. I will cook if you don't know how to cook."
Sharon was surprised, staring at this man.
"Actually, I feel sorry to bother you like this. I might not pay you back..." Sharon became uneasy. "You know, the matter..."
"I have got some news."
Sharon looked even more surprised. She hurriedly asked, "Really? What was that?"
Nathan paused and said, "I wanted to tell you after the breakfast."
...
"Maybe you have already had some guesses. But the person behind the scene is... your father."
He said this in a firm and undoubted tone.
"WHAT? No... You can't be wrong. It's impossible..."
Sharon shook her head as she spoke, but the scenes happened yesterday appeared again in her mind.
Her father cut off the tie with her at the party and refused to listen to her explanation. Then even her fingerprint lock was deleted. Ironically, she was in the end taken away by the police for trying to barge into her home ...
"No! He must be cheated by someone. He was too angry to make right decisions."
Sharon shouted, as if she wanted to persuade herself with such a loud shout, but actually, she also knew the truth must be ridiculous.
Nathan sighed and stood up. "Calm down. You can investigate if you don't believe it, but remember to be careful, because your father wants to kill you!"
"Bullshit..."
Before Nathan finished his words, Sharon suddenly dashed out.
"No, I have to make it clear myself. I need the truth..."
Sharon had lost her mind, but she still struggled to walk to the Evans family. She couldn't believe his father was faking the love to her all the time, and his promises were also lies. Tears streamed down her face, but she just wiped it away and kept walking.
Nathan looked at her back and sighed. He knew she would go to find out by herself. So he went to start the car and followed her quietly.
Finally, Sharon arrived at the Evans family. The gate was closed, but she dared not try that fingerprint lock again. So she had to shout loudly at the gate.
"Dad, please open the door. Please let me in. I need you to tell me the truth. Please tell me..."
She shouted loudly, but no one answered her.
Sharon stood there and kept crying. Now it was noon, the dazzling sunlight made her feel dizzy. So she was trying to drag herself to a shaded place.
But all of a sudden, a car sped to her, as if the driver didn't see her at all. She cried in shock but saw the license number of that car in her panic... It was her father's man. She would die, and it was not something miserable for her. She closed her eyes hopelessly, but suddenly, she felt that a man came to her and carried her to dodge the car. They fell down and hit the wall, but she was protected by a man.
It was him! That handsome and calm gentleman!
"Nathan..."
"Don't ask. Let's get out of here."
Nathan held her hand and rushed to his car.
They got in the car and left this place.
"That was close."
"You knew I would be in danger?"
"I said your father wants to kill you."
Sharon was silent. She sat there in shock and a shivering came down her spine.
...
"Take a break. We're safe now."
"Why does he want to kill me? He's my father."
Sharon stared at Nathan and wanted to know the answer. This man was the only one who could tell her the answer.
"Are you really ready for the answer?"
A glass of warm milk was put on Sharon's hand. His voice was still calm as if it was not him who had almost been killed, too.
He was a stranger to her, but he was so kind to her. Sharon was confused but didn't know why.
"Please tell me. I'm ready." She sighed and grabbed the glass tightly.
Nathan showed her a disk. "Find yourself a good spot on the sofa. Let's watch it together."
...
Sharon looked at him in confusion, but she still listened to him and sat well.
In the video, her father, step-mother, and sister were planning something...
She shook her head and sobbed as she watched it. The video was the evidence of their conspiracy.
"Now you should understand."
Nathan sat next to her and put his hand on her shoulder. He looked worried and tried to comfort her.
