My name is Arora Barclay. I am the princess to the Lycan kingdom. Of course, my brother is heir to the throne so as you can imagine Alphas are lined up to ask for my hand in marriage. I mean that literally, my father is throwing a huge “Hey come marry my daughter party” tonight and there are Alphas from all over the world who’ve come to ask for my hand in marriage. I guess they think I’m naive like I don’t know they only want to marry me because when a Lycan marks a regular wolf they turn into a Lycan and we are the strongest of the wolf kind.
“Arora, darling are you excited for your big night?” My mother asks with a wide smile.
“Yes mother, I can’t wait to be shipped off with a man who only wants to marry me because I can turn him into a Lycan.” I flash a sarcastic smile at her.
“Honey your father worked very hard to organize this event please try to include yourself.” She cuts her eyes at me and walks away.
I have 3 hours until the party. 3 hours to mope around and hope my father shows mercy on me. “Haha yeah right” I mumble out loud. My father told me I have to choose someone by the end of the night or he will choose who he finds most suitable. He was very unhappy when I pointed out that it was odd he was ok with picking the person for me to have s*x with for the rest of my life. I head up to my room to be alone before I am suffocated in testosterone for hours. I scrunch my nose up at the thought, gross.
My room is beautiful, it’s painted in my favorite light shade of pink with white trim. I have my bookshelf wall with all my favorite books and my hanging reading chair. I’m hit with the feeling of impending doom. This won’t be my room much longer, I’ll be moved somewhere strange and have to share a room with a man I don’t know. Lycan’s live hundreds of year and they are pushing me out because I haven’t found my mate after only 25?! I hit the intercom and ask Iris to bring me a bottle of champagne. If I am going to get through tonight it will not be sober. I hear a knock on my door.
“Here is the champagne you requested Princess Arora.” Iris is such a timid little thing. She’s been working for us for years and no matter how much I insist on her just calling me Arora she always addressing me with my title.
“Iris how many times have I told you just call me Arora and you don’t have to look down when you speak to me” I smile at her
“Yes.. Arora” she gives a weak smile before she turns and practically runs away. I’m going to miss iris.
I now have two hours to drink and get ready. My mother has laid out a black dress with f*****g shoulder pads in it. Goddess if I didn’t know any better I would think she didn’t want me to find a man. I go in my closet and find a dark green dress with silver jewels covering it. It’s a long sleeve deep V with a slit in the leg that stops just before my hip. It goes perfectly with my red hair and pale skin. If anyone had to guess between me being a Lycan and a vampire they definitely wouldn’t think I was a Lycan. My skin is white as snow and freckles cover my face. My eyes are green and my hair is flaming red. I put the green dress on with a pair of black heels that make me 6 inches taller. Probably not ideal while drinking but nothing about tonight is really ideal.
I have one hour left and I still need to do my hair and makeup. I decide to curl my hair and put it in a loose updo, I hate my hair down even though my mother says it looks so much better down. I apply some light mascara and red lipstick. I finish off my bottle with 20 minutes to spare. I mind link my best friend Kira and ask her to come to my room. She’s there in 3 minutes and unlike everyone else she doesn’t knock she just walks in.
“There are so f*****g many hot guys out there Rory!” She exclaims as she burst through my door. She looks absolutely stunning in her strapless red silk dress. Kira is a males fantasy. She has straight black hair with dark brown eyes and pouty lips. She is curvy and tall. If I was a guy I would want to be her mate.
“Kira this is literally my nightmare, I have to pick one of these guys to marry!” I yell.
“Ok ok, I know it sucks but maybe you’ll find someone you really want to, you know, connect with.” She says with a wink.
“Oh my Goddess Kira, you are a horn dog and you are not helping on the worst night of my life.” I pout at her.
“I will be there with you the whole time Rory, I will run off any little Alpha dirt bags that only want you to turn them into a Lycan.” She gives me a sad smile. “Come on we have to go or you’ll be late.”
Time to go find a husband and kiss my life as I know it goodbye.
