I was wearing my black dress. It was made of chiffon and silk. My mother was a skilled tailor--without magic of course--and I was so lucky that I never had to buy any dress. I just told her what kind of dress I would like to have and she sketched it until I was satisfied with the design. It was a slightly puffed short sleeved long dress, the skirt was flowing touching the floor, and the v neckline had a detail of stitched diamonds all over the edges. I also did my hair in an updo. I was bad at walking on high heels, but since this was Hogwarts, I get to use a few charms to make it comfortable so I could easily walk on them.
Later on I saw Emil approaching me. He was wearing an all pitch black suit with dark silver tie to match me. The best part, he put a bright red rose on his left chest and brought a matching corsage for me to wear on my wrist. He was too sweet. He offered me his hand and led me to Great Hall just before the dance started. When we entered the hall, everyone was still waiting for the 4 champions to walk and I heard whispers and eyes on me and Emil. I tried to ignore it as I watched one pair by one pair came in gracefully all with partners. Hermione was so beautiful. Harry looked..well.. awkward. So then the dance began and the pairs started dancing. Again, Harry was awkward and seemed a bit off and in a rush.
Then Professor Dumbledore and Prof. McGonagall rode in to the center and started dancing as every couple joined in. Emil took my hand and gently danced with me. We were in such a vigorous dance until the music turned louder and faster that the teachers had to walk out, and gave up the party for the young.
I asked Emil to go get a drink and he told me to wait on one of the round tables and have a rest while he got us the punch. Just as I sat down I felt that the world was spinning and I fell from my seat, passing out.
I woke up in the hospital wing with Emil by my side holding my hand.
"(Y/n)!"
"Hey, Emil, what's happened? Why am I here?" I asked him faintly.
Before he could answer, Madam Pomfrey walked in and let things unravel.
"Oh, Miss Madden, you're awake! Your blood pressure is below normal, and I assume you didn't have anything for breakfast today?"
"Uh, yeah, Madam Pomfrey, I was in a hurry so I forgot to eat breakfast."
"Well, it's lucky that Mr. Malfoy carried you all the way down here quick enough, or..well nothing is going to happen for a low pressured blood sufferer. You only need to eat."
I froze. Malfoy? I was so dumbfounded that I didn't even realize that what I wanted to let out just did come out.
"Malfoy?!?" The second time and I felt that my voice was really loud. More like shouting.
"Yes, my dear, it was very kind of Mr. Malfoy to bring you here immediately. He looked ghastly actually. Rather pale I may say...well, now go get some food and take some rest. It is already a shame that you don't get all night to wear your beautiful gown, (Y/n)", she said as she walked away to the adjacent room.
Emil stared at me worriedly.
"I'm fine, Emil. Thank you."
"I felt horrible that I didn't even see you fainted and let that blonde Malfoy carrying you here."
"Wow... it's only been 2 weeks, Emil, that we knew each other," I stifled a laugh because I loved seeing jealous boys.
"I know...I-I just..I mean...what I was actually trying to say is that.." he was like a boy who had just learned how to speak and I, on the contrary, was making a huge effort not to laugh, "I didn't know and when I came back you were gone and people told me he took you here where it should've been me and it just..." he sighed, "felt awful. I should've been more responsible.. I'm sorry."
What he said was just beyond me. Like I never even expected him to be this nice. This actually felt weird despite his kind act.
"Emil, we're only going to the Yule Ball together. Not a date. You're not responsible for me either way. Don't take this too far," I clarified.
Emil was a bit stunned by my words. It seemed that in his hometown, two people going together to a ball, dancing, was considered more than just a fling. "I'm sorry, then. I was just worried. You were with me the entire time..."
"I get it, Emil. Just relax. I'm fine", I said as I stroke his hand which was holding my other hand and smiled.
I eagerly finished my meal and as soon as I finished, Madam Pomfrey was back and carried with her a bottle of what I assumed as medicine for me. Aaand, I wad right. She poured the blue thick liquid to a spoon and handed it to me. "Drink it. After that you have to take a night out from your bed and sleep here thus I could intensively watch the imorovement of your health."
"Yes, Madam."
"I am very sorry, Mr. Miroslav, but I'm afraid you have to take leave since she has to rest."
Emil nodded, kissed my hand and forehead--which got me chills, then left.
"Goodnight, Ms. Madden."
"Goodnight, Madam Pomfrey. Thank you for taking care of me."
