I'm just holding a soft drink while sitting on the long maroon sofa in the ivory-white painted family room. Meanwhile, Hans disappeared somewhere. Suddenly he was sitting to my left, on the same sofa, and holding out the medicine box.
"This has not been replaced, huh?" I asked, surprised to see the bandage that wrapped his hand was still like when I was bandaged before in the hospital.
"The doctor isn't here yet, so the answer hasn't been replaced?" chuckled Hans, raising an eyebrow with a nosy grin on his face.
Inadvertently my eyes saw the wall clock that showed almost 10 pm. This is really beyond my usual normal. Since working here, almost every night I have arrived home before 7 pm unless there is night service. But this ... argghhhhh ... I'm just getting confused.
"What's wrong with you?" Asked Hans with an expression that immediately changed to a serious mode. "Eh ...", I didn't realize that Hans heard my growl earlier, even though I thought it was just my inner dialogue that had been out of sync all this time, especially when I was this close to Hans.
After answering it was okay, I continued wrapping the bandage around Hans's wound, which began to dry and close. After I made sure everything was done and put the first aid kit back on the glass table which was laid back with colorful pandanus mats. I looked at Hans and said I was going home.
"Are you sure you will come home at night like this?" Asked Hans, smiling half. The twinkle in her eyes clearly showed that the meaning of her question would be ambiguous if I answered incorrectly.
"Dear Doctor Hans, I will remind you, in case you forget, I am a doctor, who sometimes comes home or goes to the hospital even in the middle of the night when there is an emergency call, so is it not strange that this question came out of the mouth of a doctor too? ? ", I tried to compensate for Hans by asking again.
Hans suddenly laughed out loud, squinted at me, and said "we will be a great sparring partner if it starts like this".
I, who did not understand what he meant and did not want to understand either, it was not important, decided to immediately leave while reminding the bandages not to be changed too long like the other day.
After making sure I was safely behind the wheel, I saw Hans close the front door of the house from the rearview mirror. And I immediately drove my white Honda Jazz at medium speed. Forty-five minutes later I had parked the car that had been with me during this "exile" in the garage next to the main building of the white-painted house I bought the first year I decided to stay in this city.
In the morning, I was on duty as usual and was just going out for lunch when I ran into Doctor Rini in front of the hospital cafeteria. "Is there a new target now? I don't know if this innocent face is the target of all high class", he looked away while walking deliberately bumping my shoulder with his shoulder which left a little pain because it was done on purpose.
"What do you mean?" I asked, irritated because several pairs of eyes that had been sitting in the cafeteria and who were still walking to take food looked at us because Rini's voice was quite loud, like an evil screeching sound.
"No need to pretend, everyone already knows that you are eyeing the new director of our hospital". I had not had time to answer, I was so confused about what Rini said. She had continued scoffing, "but it's good, so Hans is mine".
I haven't had the chance to understand or answer Rini's words which in my opinion are like Jaka Sembung with a machete, aka it doesn't connect, stupid. Suddenly Hans's voice calling out to me was heard along with Hans's footsteps that seemed to be aligning his steps on my right side while carrying a tray that I caught a glimpse of containing two bowls of melting cheese-covered fruit salad.
"Dear Hans, well, thank you, you are very attentive, you just know that I'm on a carb diet". Said Rini while clinging onto Hans's right arm, who was injured the other day, so Hans brought his tray with his left hand.
Seeing the play drama in front of me that makes me sleepy if I look at it for a long time or even get sick of the acute level, I hurriedly strolled to the pantry table to take my lunch portion which I think now should be a flash version and a wrap model for easy portability room to eat there rather than eat here see endless magical charms.
"Doctor Rini, I made an appointment with my prospective fiancee to have lunch together while discussing the future, so can you please give me away?", Faintly I still heard Hans' voice responding to Rini.
The word fiancé made my hand that was scooping vanilla ice cream topped with almonds with the available scoop suddenly stopped and my heart was pounding. Fiancée... I mean ... Hans is Rini's fiancé, Oh God ... I was the only one who was so nervous that I thought Hans's cute attitude was part of his caring attitude and having the same taste as mine.
Oh my God!!!, don't let me come back hoping for something that will hurt me again. Without listening to their second conversation again, especially Hans's response that would definitely rip my feelings even more real, I immediately turned to my room with just one scoop of vanilla ice cream with almonds sprinkled on top, I even forgot that I had ordered a vegetable salad before.
Arriving at my room which was also nuanced white, I immediately entered and locked the door with a really painful feeling. Why after all this time I tried to open myself up to new flavors instead I broke back and haven't even grown fully yet. I didn't feel my tears dripping and I hurriedly wiped them with my sleeves because suddenly I heard a knock on my door.
"Yes ... a moment", I said while trying to organize my heart and mind so that I wouldn't be too carried away, even though this is a hospital and of course during the work atmosphere, whatever the conditions I have to always look professional. The doctor is whiny and teasing when duty calls.
With that last thought and having wiped away the tears and corrected a little hairdo by draping stubborn strands behind my ears, I opened the door and the world seemed to be deliberately mocking me with the figure of Hans who was in front of the door still with the same tray in his hand.
