chapter 1

Camilla I would have said my life sucks right now, but when I look at my life previously, I become appreciative of this one. Working in a library isn't as bad as it looks. I get to see new faces everyday, I get to read free romance novels and my pay settles my bills or at least most of them. Carrying the pile of books on the table, which are meant to be conveyed to the shelf down the building, I hummed 'diamonds' by Rihanna as I steadily walked down the building. But my humming was cut short when I slammed into a hard chest which sent the books flying. "Am so sorry Miss, I wasn't being careful while walking down" You think? I silently prayed that all the covers of the books which was on the floor are still intact. I bent down to pick the books and the young man bent with me probably to help. "It's okay Mister, I can handle it" "Nonsense, I was the one who ran into you, courtesy demands that I help you pick them up" Well you are lucky that the books aren't damaged because I'll make sure courtesy will make you pay for them. I ignored him as I quietly picked the books with him. Once we've picked all the books, I stood up and requested he hands them over to me "Let me help you carry them wherever it is that you are going to drop them" he looked inside the section A of the library "you work here right?" "Yes I do" He smiled at me and I must confess he's quite handsome "after we are done dropping the books, I'll like you to help find a book. This is the second time am here, and am yet to find the book" "Okay" "Well since you are in the agreeing spirit, I'll like to buy you coffee as a sign of apology" Yeah this one is very smooth.. Did he even ram into me by mistake? "The coffee isn't necessary, I already forgive for running into me" He flattened his palm on the books he is holding "why don't we go drop this books, then I'll try to convince you again" Ignoring him, I walked ahead of him into section C of the library. He did not only help me carry the books in, he even helped me arrange them into the shelves. It seems the man has time on his hands. But judging from his Armani suit to his Rolex watch, don't ask me how am able to tell, I can tell that he's quite loaded and people with such money tend to have no time on their hands unless the money is from daddy. But looking at the handsome man before me, he doesn't look like someone who depends on Daddy's money. "How about that coffee?" I blinked at him "what?" "I asked, if we can still get the coffee? You owe me for helping you arrange those books" What the..."I never asked for your help Mister" "Damon... Call me Damon and you didn't reject my help either Camilla" My eyes widened in surprise "how did you know my name?" He chuckled as he pointed towards my name tag "you have a name tag" Thanks for pointing it out, now I look stupid "No you don't" I raised my brows "what?" "You said you look stupid and am telling you that you don't" I grimaced "guess I said that out aloud, it was actually meant to be in my head" He checked his time "I must leave now, I've already spent a lot of time here. So when do you get off work?" I crossed my arms and puffed out my chest "why do ask Damon?" "The coffee" "Well..." I cleared my throat "am only going because I love free coffee and that's all. Just one coffee and you back off okay?" He gave a smile, one that showed his dimple "just tell me when you get off work Camilla" "4pm...I should be done by 4" "Okay, I'll come pick you up myself" my surprised me with a hug "I'll see you later... Have a lovely day Camilla" I watched him walk straight to his car. Is that Bugatti? Damn he must be quite rich. He rolled down his glass and waved at me before driving off. Only then did I realize that he didn't leave with any book. My day carried on without any hassle and before I know it, it was already four. I packed my stuffs from my desk and waved my colleague goodbye. Cain my best friend and Co worker walked up to me at the entrance "Hello snow queen" I pouted at him "you know snow queen isn't much of a good lady right?" He laughed at me "have you seen yourself behave before?" I snorted in response "Let's go have a drink what do you think?" "Nay...I already promised someone my evening" He began to clap loudly "finally she's getting laid... Who's the lucky guy?" I pushed him away "get lost wanker, nobody is getting laid" He crossed his hands over my shoulder "you know I like you right? That's why am telling you that you really really need to get laid" I opened my mouth to reply but closed it when I saw Damon standing outside his car, staring directly at us. With the way his brows are furrowed, it looks as if he's upset about something. "Please tell me that hottie over there is your date" Cain gushed "Jeez Cain, you sound like a damn gay" He let out a small laugh "I like p*****s Camy and that dude over there seem to realize that too" he removed his hand from my shoulder "he looks upset that I have my hand on you" I look over to Damon who has already started walking towards us "I highly doubt that, I just met him so he can't be upset over that" "Am a guy, and I know a possessive stance when I see one and that guy is definitely possessive of you" Immediately Damon approached us, he draped his hand across my tiny waist. He pressed an unexpected kiss on my forehead before turning his attention to Cain, he stretched out his hand "Damon Salvador" Cain shook his hand "Salvador? Spanish?" Damon ignored him and turned to me "are you ready?" I nodded my head but turned and gave Cain a hug "I'll call you tonight okay?" "Okay... Am faster than 911, call me if he tries anything funny" I let go of him "it's 4 in the evening, what could possibly happen?" He shrugged "just saying" I waved at him as I walked away with Salvador. Immediately we got into the car, he fired me with questions "Is he your boyfriend?" "You think I'll leave my boyfriend standing just to have coffee with you?" He started the car and raced down the streets "your behavior towards each other made me think so" "Cain is a friend Damon and if you want to get on my good side, then you better start treating him well. You offered your name but never gave him the chance to offer his" He smiled, without staring at me "Is something funny? Did I crack any joke that I am not aware of?" He gave me a quick glance "am just happy he is not your boyfriend, not that it would change anything though but am happy it's just me. I do not like to share Camilla" I ignored his statement of it being just him. I simply watched as we drove right into the city.
