Damon
When I saw Camilla standing with that's guy's hand draped over her shoulder, I saw red. I wanted to rip that guys hand off its socket.
The first time I was here to get a book for Emily, I saw her at the end of the shelf attending to the customer. I wanted to talk to her there and then but I had a lot of work at the office. My coming here was planned to be a very quick one so I decided to come back tomorrow with the excuse of buying another book. But my bumping into her wasn't planned, that was definitely a mistake.
I turned my gaze to the beautiful creature sitting across me at the coffee table, I later offered to take her for dinner instead of coffee but she bluntly refused so we ended up with coffee.
"So Mr. Salvador, where are you from? I noticed the accent earlier"
"Mr. Salvador huh?" I dropped my cup "I'm from Spain"
"You are very far away from home, what brought you to New York?"
"Business, change of scenery. I opened a business branch here in New York three years ago, so I decided to manage other ones from here"
"Am assuming you opened your first business back at home? In Spain I mean"
I guess the woman who just got my attention is not only beautiful but also inquisitive "the business back in Spain is more like a family business, it was started from my father's father down to us but me here in New York is my definition of expanding"
She focused her attention on someone behind me, so I turned to see who captured it only to see a young lady. "Do you know her?"
She smiled at me "no I don't, but she seem to have taken an interest in you"
"f**k them; the only woman who has my interest is sitting right before me"
She blushed at my statement but tried to cover it with her silky hair.
"You don't have to cover it cariño, I love seeing you blush"
She waved off my comment, so I decided to change the topic "tell me more about yourself "
She shrugged "there is nothing to tell...
I just crocked my brows in response
She huffed "fine..... Am from Nashville and I work in a library"
"And your family?"
"They live back in my hometown"
I can sense that she doesn't want to talk about her family so I let it go
"So how are you enjoying your jo_" my ringtone did not allow me finish the statement. When I looked to check the caller, I regretted not silencing my phone.
"You can pick it, it's totally fine with me"
Rejecting the call is not going to be a smart move because she will keep calling until I pick the damn call, so I picked it
"Por qué me estàs llmando?" (Why are you calling me?)
"No te alegra saber de mi Damon?" (Aren't you happy to hear from me Damon?)
"Solo responde la maldita pregunta!!" (Just answer the damn question)
"Sabes porque te estoy llmando Damon" (you know why am calling you Damon)
"Dame un respiro Adriana, te lo mande mas tarde" (give me a break, I'll send it later)
"Mejor lo haces" (you better do). With that she ended the call
I turned to Camilla who looks lost in my conversation with Adriana and I didn't feel sorry. That was the main point of communicating in Spanish with Adriana.
"Is everything okay?" She asked with a concerned look on her face
"Yeah it's nothing I can't handle" I pointed towards her coffee "it's getting cold"
She blinked at me confusingly before staring down at her coffee before realization dawned on her "ohm...I like my coffee warm"
I stored it up in my brain "noted"
She stared down at her watch "I need to get going, I have things to get to at home"
My face twisted in disapproval "already? Can't I be lucky enough to have you to myself for one more hour?"
"No you can't, I have things to do"
"Okay, let me drop you home then" I opened my wallet and dropped few dollar notes on the table, which should be enough to cover the bills.
I opened the entrance door for her as we left the coffee shop. When we got to my car, I opened the door for her and held it open, waiting for her to enter but she shook her head instead of getting in
"Sorry but I can't let you drop me home, I'll just take a cab home"
Nonsense!!! She gat to be f*****g kidding me "you really think I'll let you get home alone?"
"You don't have a choice Damon, it's my decision"
"Let hell if am going to let you grab a f*****g cab" I took a deep breath to reign in my anger. Just few minutes and am regretting why I stopped seeing my therapist. "Why don't you want me to drop you off?"
She huffed "it's quite simple Damon, I can't let a stranger drop me off at my house"
"Are you serious Camilla? Am still a stranger to you?"
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves Damon, I just met you this morning and the only thing I know about you are the things you told me which am not even sure are true, so I hope you see why I still see you as a stranger?"
Even though I hate to admit it, but she's right so I gave up. The last thing I want her to believe is that am controlling just on our first day. "Fine, I'll grab a cab for you. Why don't you sit in the car while I call one?"
She pointed towards the busy street "I can just stop one right here and now"
"I know cariño but please just let me do this for my peace of mind"
She nodded before she opened the door and entered. I brought out my phone and requested for a cab.
The cab arrived within few minutes and I tapped on the window. She opened the car and got out.
"Thanks for the coffee Damon, it was really lovely and I hope I didn't kill the moment by refusing your offer to drop me home"
I took her small hands into my big ones "it's okay cariño, I understand you're reasons"
I walked her to the cab and watched her enter. I fought the urge to grab her and kiss those lips of hers, but am sure that will scare her off.
"What does cariano mean?"
I smiled at her "it's cariño not cariano and I'll tell you on our next date"
"How sure are you that we are going on a second date? You don't even have my number"
If only she knows how involved I am with her. "I didn't take your number because I didn't want to look too forward but don't be confused cariño, we will definitely be going on another date"
She opened her mouth to argue but I silenced her with my finger on her lips. "I'll see you tomorrow"
She brought out her phone and handed it to me "I need your number to let you know that I got home safely"
I grinned widely, it seems am not the only one invested in this so I typed in my number and called my line. I handed the phone back to her.
"Please call me once you get home Camilla"
She nodded "I will"
I turned to the cab man and have him some money "make sure you drop her at her door step okay?"
"Yes sir"
I waved her goodbye as the cab drove away. I stood on the street smiling like an i***t and anticipating our next date.
