chapter 3

Camellia I got home safely thanks to Damon and the driver who refused to leave until I get inside safely. I got out from the showered just to see my phone vibrating. I guess I did remove it from vibration after I got off work. I checked the display caller and of course Damon's name stared back at me so I picked "Hello" "What the hell is wrong with you cariño!!! Are you trying to give me a f*****g heart attack?" "I wanted to shower before calling you" I heard him hiss "so you couldn't call before showering?" I can feel he's angry so I decided not to poke him "am sorry for not calling you Damon" He took a deep breath "its okay Camilla.... Just wanted to check up on you" I can feel that he's still angry with me so I decided to plead my case the more "Damon am so..." He cut my off "its okay, I'll talk to you later" The beep signified that he have already ended the call. Well that didn't go well at all. I took my bath and retired for bed. Few hours later and I was still tossing around the bed unable to sleep. I reflected on my activities and my coffee date with Damon. I feel bad about lying to him that I had things to attend to... Well unless you can count laying on my bed, requesting that the sleep fairies with come take me. Tossing around some more, I gave up. I picked up my phone and called Damon and he actually picked. After the way he ended the call earlier, I was surprised that he actually picked. "Cariño? Is everything alright?" He asked with a husky voice Shit!! Since I couldn't sleep, it actually didn't occur to me that others are. "Cariño? Are you okay?" I cleared my throat "yeah am fine, am sorry I woke you up, I forgot that people might actually be sleeping" "You didn't wake me cariño, I was already awake before you called" I can tell he's lying but I didn't push the matter. "But you should be sleeping cariño, what happened? Couldn't sleep?" I sat upright and picked my big toe "yeah I couldn't sleep. I didn't like the way we ended things today, so it was in my head all through" "Am so sorry, that wasn't my intention. What can I do to help?" I smiled at his attempt to help even though he isn't close to me "firstly my not being able to sleep isn't your fault, and if you can forgive me, am okay" I heard him mumble something that sounds like a curse under his breath. "What are you doing Damon?" He chuckled at my question "am trying to make coffee but I spilled it" "Trying huh? Do I have to assume that you can't prepare a coffee Mr. Salvador?" "Hell...I can't even boil water without ruining it" I laughed out loud. Seriously who doesn't know how to boil water? "How then do you survive Damon?" "I pay people to do the cooking" Just how rich is this man? "You mean you have a chef?" "When you sound like that, you make me reconsider having one. What about you cariño, can you cook?" "Yes I can, I didn't have much such choice but to learn while growing up" "Then I have to praise your parents for raising such a lovely lady" I scoffed in disapproval; if only he really know them I doubt he will still want to praise them. "Are you still there?" I blinked myself back to reality. "Yeah, am sorry I zoned out" "Because I mentioned your parents?" "Nay...I just remembered something that's all" He hummed in agreement "you should get some sleep cariño, remember you have to work tomorrow" The idea of going to bed isn't appealing to me right now "what about you Damon? Don't you have to go to work tomorrow? I would have told you to go to bed, but seeing that you just had or you are still drinking coffee proves that you do not have the intention of going to bed anytime" "I have some things to work on that's why am awake and please don't confuse my situation with yours cariño, I am my own boss but you, you have someone whom you answer to" Yeah he's right; Mr. Lawrence won't take it lightly with me if I slack in my responsibilities. "Fine, I'll go to bed now" "Good, I'll call you tomorrow okay cariño?" "Okay.... Goodnight" "Goodnight" I went to bed as instructed and I slept surprisingly well. Work today isn't as busy as the rest of the weeks because that explains why Cain isn't in his own section but in mine drilling me on how coffee went with Mr. handsome as he calls Damon "I've told you countless times Cain, nothing happened. He didn't even get to take me home" He closed his eyes a little bit, creating a little slit with it "what do you mean he didn't get to take you home? Don't tell me you chased him away with that ice queen character of yours?" "I didn't chase him away. As a matter of fact, we spoke last night before I went to bed" He titled his head "then why didn't you allow him drive you home?" I shrugged "perhaps for safety reasons. I only met this guy yesterday, so it's advisable that I don't let him know my house until I figure out what type of guy he is" "So during your time together, what type of guy do you think he is?" I relaxed and reflected on our chats yesterday. "I think he's a guy who doesn't believe or depend on Daddy's money, I th__" Cain cut me off "he's rich? Like loaded?" I stared at him as if saying 'is your eyes not working' "he came in a Bugatti yesterday Cain, didn't you see it?" He waved me off "people borrow cars to impress people lately" "What the hell does it even matter if he has money? I don't even care" "Well maybe you don't" he pointed towards himself "but I do, I really need the connections I can get for my arts but that's by the way. What else did you discover?" "He's from Spain and his family lives there. He's a type of man that likes being in control but I think he's trying hard not to control me" "That's ten points from me to him. So what else" "He speaks Spanish" Cain leaned closer to me "you know he's from Spain so it's only normal that he can speak Spanish" I hit his arm playfully before shoving him away. "Since you said he can speak Spanish, am supposing he did speak for you?" "Not for me really, someone called him and the communicated in Spanish" Cain held his finger up "wait a minute; he answered a call while with you?" "I told him to plus it's understandable that he answers his call, he's a business man you know" "So whatever they discussed couldn't be said in English?" I shrugged in response. "You see Cammy, when someone you know speaks a different language to somebody else right in front of you, it simply means that the person doesn't trust you, or he's hiding something and you know what, I take back my ten points."
