Lucas
I stormed into my room in anger, angry at myself for getting angry and angry at my therapist for thinking that something is indeed wrong with me. My mind went back to our section earlier today.
"My name is Doctor Gia and I'll be handling all the sections with you"
I don't know if she was expecting a warm gesture from me or a 'am happy to meet you response' because she kept quiet after introducing herself. When it was obvious that I wasn't going to say anything, she continued with the talking
"What can I do for you Mr Davidson?"
"Shouldn't I be the one asking you what you can do for me?"
She gave me a small smile "before you decide to ask for help Mr Davidson, you will have to first acknowledge the fact that you have a problem. So why don't you state what your problem is, so we can both work towards finding solution"
"Are you saying I have a problem?"
Using her pen to make a circular motion on her desk, she smiled "don't we all have a problem? In one way or the other we all have problems and are seeking for solution"
I placed my palms on my knees as if stopping them from running away "they say am developing anger issues so I should come rectify it"
She wrote something down in her book "they say? Why says Mr Davidson?"
I shrugged "my sister and best friend"
"Hmmmm your sister and best friend.. What about you Mr Davidson, what do you think? Do you think you have any issues?"
"I don't know, but I get easily irritated currently"
"Okay... Tell me one thing that makes you easily irritated?"
My sister, that was my first thought. I get irritated when she talks about getting involved with another man or when she keeps something from me. But telling that to Mrs Gia without explaining that she is not actually my sister is going to make me look like a f*****g creep. I stood up abruptly "you know what Mrs, am not doing this with you"
Just as I opened the door to leave, her voice stopped me.
"Write down the list of things that get you annoyed, we'll start from there the next time you decide to visit"
Ignoring her, I banged the door hard and left the building.
The cold water on my skin brought me back to the present. Why I am so possessive of Delilah? I think I need to get laid.
After the cold, I dressed up, grabbed my keys and left the house again, ignoring the questioning gaze of Delilah.
I drove past a coffee shop but reserved back when I saw who was sitting in the shop. I entered the shop and walked straight to her.
"Is this seat taken?"
She blinked up at me surprised "Mr Davison?"
I gave her my killer smile "I didn't think you would remember. Please save this gentle man from standing all day"
She gave me a nervous smile as she gestured for me to sit down. "I didn't peg you as coffee type Mr Davidson"
"Please call me Lucas, and everybody needs coffee but am not here for coffee, I just needed some fresh air so here I am" I stared into her cup then raised my brows "I do not know much about pregnant women, but I do know that you aren't suppose to be drinking coffee Juliana? Am permitted to call you Juliana right?"
"Yeah, and am not drinking the coffee. You see Lucas, when I wasn't pregnant, I was a coffee addict and when I became pregnant, that urge was still there. So I just buy a cup of coffee and taken in the aroma until it gets cold"
I must say that is really funny "you do know you are permitted to have a cup once in a while right?"
She shook her head "nah, once I start taking it now, it will be difficult to stop"
"I understand" I looked around the coffee shop "are you with someone or waiting for someone?"
"Am alone, I told you that I just wanted to sniff some coffee"
I let out a heart felt laughter "so you wouldn't mind me interrupting your sniffing?"
She grinned from ear to ear "I won't mind at all"
I spent the whole mid day talking and laughing with her which wasn't difficult or stressful because Juliana knows her way round jokes. I got home later that evening to meet Delilah getting out of her car
"Are you just coming back Del?"
She startled a bit as if she didn't hear me drive in "yes, I have things that I had to fix" she looked at me and my coffee stained shirt "had coffee all day?"
"Yeah, I needed some fresh air"
She opened her mouth to say something else but our father shouted through the window
"Are you guys coming in or are you staying out the whole night? This old man has something to say"
I expected Del to give him a come back on his statement about being old but she did not say anything altogether, she simply took her bag, locked her car and quietly walked inside. Still dumbfounded, I followed her inside.
We met our father halfway through the stairs and he told us something about Del and I attending a fundraiser this coming Friday.
"I want you guys to go with your dates" our father said, looking at us through the rim of his glasses.
With a frown on my face, I stared at Del "why can't I take Del as my date?"
"Take who?"
I sighed out in faustration "Delilah, why can't I take Delilah as my date? We've attended all fundraiser together all these while so why the sudden interest with other dates?"
"Do you have any idea how many newspaper and bloggers Claire had to pay to stop their s**t from getting out?"
I raised my brows "what s**t?"
He pointed at Del and me "to the outside world, she's your step sister which means you two are free to date each other. They are trying to say that the both of you are dating since you Lucas haven't been seen with any lady likewise Delilah"
"What is wrong with them saying that? That the say it doesn't mean it's true" Delilah replied with a scowl present on her face
"I don't care what they say about your personal lives, but I care about the impact it will have on my business that is why you guys are going to come with your respective dates. Why are we even arguing about this? Are you two....."
Del rubbed the heel of her hands over her eyes, smearing her mascara "I'll have mine ready before then. Is there any other thing left to discuss?"
"No that's all"
She gave my father a small smile before retreating to her room. My father looked at her retreating back before looking at me
"What is wrong with her?"
Like hell if I know
