DANIEL
When I got home, I got into my gym clothes and hit up the weights. I am feeling good today, and yes, it has everything to do about Petunia. I am seeing her again tonight, and man, I cannot wait. I did not ever see her the way I saw her today. She certainly surprised me. She made me cancel Dorcas for her, and I know that I am going to sound like a d**k when I tell you this, but I have never been happier to f**k my secretary. God knows how much she had me fooled all these years. I thought she was some kind of a nerd, but damn, I loved the freak that evoked in her today.
“Dad, can we talk?” I look at her behind me through the glass wall but don’t stop lifting a 5 kilograms dumbbell in each hand while I am sitting on the workout bench. I am sweating as f**k right now I even took off my tank top five minutes ago because it was damped.
“Later,” I announce.
“NOW!” She commands. I pause and look at her, standing behind me. I chuckle, dropping my dumbbells carefully on the floor before I turn to face her.
“Did you just raise your voice at me, young girl?”
“If that is what it takes for you to listen to me, then yes, I just did,”
I don’t like her attitude, one bit. How is she talking to me like that? Since when does she disrespect me like that? She was not home when I got back home from work. If that boyfriend of hers is teaching her to talk to me the way she does, then I will be forced to step in and make his life miserable – whoever he is.
“Well, baby girl… you better leave with that attitude because it is disgusting. If you seriously want to talk to me, get out of my house and leave that arrogance outside before you get back in because it is disgusting and annoying,” I warn her, but my humble and submissive Yolanda is gone. This is not the girl I know, which is scary. She is too bold for my liking. Where is the fear, the shyness, the naiveness, and my darling stepdaughter? This is not her. She looks livid in a way.
“I am not going anywhere until I talk to you, Daniel!” She exclaims. Now I am getting mad, so I put on my Alpha face and stare at her, devilishly.
She nervously steps back, and for me to just know that she is scared, I notice when she plays with her fingers.
“Talk!” I growl.
She takes a deep breath, dropping her eyes, probably to get herself together and put on her brave face because she rose her eyes almost immediately at me.
“I have a boyfriend that I love so much…” Hearing that makes my heart throb. I clench my fingers, but I allow her to continue. “To be honest, I am done hiding from you. I don’t really care how it makes you feel, but I just want you to know how much I have had enough of you. You are abusive both physically and emotionally to me, and with you invading my space so much, I cannot breathe. I am suffocating, daddy! I cannot live like this anymore. What you are doing to me is wrong; do you think that mom would have liked what you are doing to her daughter? She trusted you with me, but you probably misunderstood her. You were supposed to love me like your daughter, but not nothing more. I think it is best that I leave because I cannot live with you,”
“Well,” I shrug my shoulders. “Maybe it is best too. Are you done; I would like to get back to what I was doing?” I coldly say.
“Huh?” She sounds shocked.
“Oh, are there still more unnecessary things you want to tell me?”
“Actually, yes. Do not stand in my way, or I will have you arrested,” Maybe her feistiness is not that bad. I think I like this cheeky side of her, but this is her moment everyone… let her shine!
“I won’t, baby girl. Do what you want with your life,”
“Did you ever love my mom?” She tones down.
“What kind of a question is that, Yolanda? Of course, I loved your mother!”
“Then why did you…” She pauses and studies my eyes.
“Why did I what? Say it,”
“Never mind,”
“Yeah, I thought so too. Get out of my sight,” I grab my phone out of my pocket and blast out music in the gym through Google connect and head to the treadmill to run a good fifteen kilometres per hour. I need it to clear my head because what Yolanda said to me was a mouthful.
She wants me to let her be. Maybe it is for the best because it wouldn’t make sense that I force her to do something that she wants nothing of. The last thing I wanted to do is to make her feel uncomfortable and abused. I f*****g let my emotions take over me. I truly respect women, and I am so f*****g against Gender-Based Violence. I know I messed up, and Mary is probably looking for ways to punish me now, but I have deeper feelings for Yolanda.
I thought manipulating her would make her feel the same way about me, but damn she is tough. Anyway, it is not my place to stop her from dating. She will be going to university soon, and I won’t be with her to watch her twenty-four-seven. She is going to meet boys and do stuff that makes me want to lose my f*****g mind! My biggest fear is any of my girls falling in love with boys that are going to break their hearts. Oh, my baby Anele. I know there isn’t a right time, but I hope she waits until she is ready to start dating.
The music stops as my phone rings. I slow down the treadmill before I get off and walk to get my phone. I try to catch my breath first before I answer it.
“Capo, what is it?” I ask, sternly.
“We need to talk and make some changes in the pack, Alpha. This is about Omega Kyle,”
“What about Kyle?”
He keeps quiet for a moment.
“We will talk about it. There is something else that needs our attentive attention. We need to find a way to protect you, Alpha. We do not know what the government has promised the citizens, but people would do anything for money, even the wolf pack,” I growl, annoyed.
“What do you mean even the wolf pack? Are they planning to tip the police about me?”
“All I am saying is that you can never trust anyone, Alpha. We need to put extra protection on you,”
“Handle it, Capo. I am busy tonight. Anything will have to wait until tomorrow. Is there anything else that you want to tell me?”
“No. Goodbye.” He hangs up. Why do I feel like he is hiding something from me? For his sake, I hope he is not.
