Our worlds can never change

Allisters POV I don’t want to be here greeting guests. I want to go back to that campsite to see that women. As I smile and greet everyone who came in early for the ball. “My King the ballroom is ready, food is prepared for today and tomorrow, all guests R.S.V.P and at least have reached our border. We are having everyone enjoy the castle and music and festivities outside in the courtyard for the day and then dinner will be a seafood medley”. My betta states reassuring that all is well. I just nodded back and start walking to my room. I wanted to be left alone so I can find an excuse to leave later tonight. As I walk into my room I was distracted to the point that I forgot my mistress’ was in my bed. “Please wake up and leave my room. I need time to think. Have the maids come in and clean my sheets and room. “ as I order them to do so. “My King, I would love to rub your feet and more if you would like? You look in some type of way stressed or concerned.” my mistress in lead says to me. She has been with me since I became King. The oldest of them all but she is good at what she does. She would be a good Luna if I ever chose to appoint her to that role.  I turn to her, “Please have the maids clean everything in this room. I may expect a guess to come visit soon” I say while I see hurt in her face. “As you wish my King” she bows and they all leave out through the door. I feel sorry for her, I feel no love towards them. Just the need for my loneliness. I might be a King but I do get lonely at times. Nothing that I can’t fix. I wish I could be with someone for me not for my title, but a King must never feel that way. We have a whole kingdom to take care of and many look up to me after I have taken my father's place. I am the oldest of 3 brothers. It’s me, then David and Goliath. My little brothers are twins. David is the serious one and takes everything in concern. Goliath is the ladies man that loves that he’s not King so he can do whatever he wants. I love seeing him frolic freely. I envy him at times. As I’m thinking my heart starts racing like hiccups of excitement, fear and an adrenaline rush. What the hell was that! And then it just stopped. For a good 5-10 minutes I felt little impulses like that happening to my chest. I instantly go to my door and start walking to our pack doctor.  While mind linking my pack doctor, I saw him sprinting to the infirmary. I see a few of my pack members looking concerned to see him running like that till they see me walking in the same direction as him. Everyone bows and I and back to them. “Carlise, what is happening to my body?” I yell at him as I see him tense up. He checks my chest my back and my head. My body is racing and then it will stop and then start up again. “Anything?” I lay down annoyed. “My King, when did this start?” he says while examining my heart.  “Literally about 5 minutes ago right before I mind linked you” I’m already annoyed and tired of what’s happening. “My King, have you met anyone recently? I did see a few shewolves coming in for the ball tomorrow” he looks at me mysteriously. “Yes I have, a lot of new people” I say concerning. He looks at me and smiles with a grin as wide as his face. “It looks like your mate was near you. Not as close though since you would have figured it out instantly who she is.” he says smiling. I looked at him dumbfounded. No not now! I can’t have a mate now. She will be the death of me. I like the life that I live. Plus she would never approve of how I live. I’m shocked. I can’t have a mate now. This is not possible.  “She is our mate and you should be happy to have finally found her. I’m surprised I have not picked up exactly who she is. Do you think it was that scent we picked up at the campsite?” Lance whispers to me. He’s been really quiet lately. Hasn’t spoken since the incident with that man. “Maybe I am not sure. Why can’t I determine that’s my mates scent?” I asked Lance. “Maybe she is not who she seems to be or maybe she’s not a wolf. I don’t know but I can’t sense a mate bond from her but her scent definitely makes a presence known in me. Like an overwhelming barrier that keeps moving me towards her with our without permission from my own self. We are in big trouble if she’s our mate if we feel like this already and we haven’t mated yet” says my wolf concerned. He is right. If she already has this type of pull on me just wait till I claim her it will get worse. Wait claim her! Am I really thinking of claiming her? At that thought, I feel a huge pain searing through my back. What the hell was that!! What is going on? It hurts so bad. “ Something is wrong. Our mate. Something is wrong with her. We must go now. She feels 10x more than what we are feeling now. We must go” Lance barks. I get up and walk out of my room ignoring the voices behind me. I knew a few of them were my gamma and my mistress’. I mindlink my beta and gamma and tell them I’m going for a run. It’s time to find that scent again.  I shift and start running towards the east camping grounds. I hear different voices everywhere but hers. I try to find her scent and nothing. Where did she go and why is she not here? Why am I acting like this. I need to see her and she needs to be where I can see her. My wolf is pacing back and forth as we can’t find her scent her voice not even the man. I know she’s hurt I just can’t find her. I trail off farther out from the campsite and I still can’t find her. Maybe she did get hurt and they left to get her help at a hospital. Yeah maybe that, as I saw in my head. “Let’s check the manager's office and see if anyone checked out early,'' says Lance as we eagerly move towards the office and shift back. Then I will know who she is. “My King, I am sorry to say that no one has checked out early from their stay. Both human and inhuman.” Nods the campsite manager. “I must’ve picked up this feeling from somewhere else” I knotted to my pack manager. I can’t find her. Maybe this is for the best. I am King and she is just a simple being. I have a kingdom to think about and she can live freely and do whatever she wants. Maybe this is best. “Are you sure you want to walk away from your potential mate, Allister?” Lance says while trying to convince me that there is more.” I’m not ready to have a mate and she is just a normal being. She will never be ready to live this type of life we live, better yet a kingdom to watch over. She is not fit. My wolf is a very proud wolf. Wolf to the Alpha King binded to me forever. We will get through this. We will let her pass as if a distant memory and I will deal with it. This is best for her.
