Shoot

After Jack stormed out of the kitchen I went and put on one of my favorite big winter hoodies before putting the dishes in the sink. I sat on the couch with a blanket wrapped around me while reading the book he gave me. He has a really cozy place. Jack came out about an hour later leaving out the back door without saying a word. I took the opportunity to go shower and change. I put on a pair of leggings and a crop top sweater. It covers my stomach as long as I kept my arms down. I sat back on the couch and had just started reading again when Jack walks in. “What are you doing?” He asks as if I’m not obviously reading a book “Reading” I say holding the book up. I can’t help but be a smart a** “Do you want to do something fun?” I put the book down and narrow my eyes at him “Depends, I think we have different definitions of fun” He smiles at me making me melt “Put on your coat and shoes and meet me out back” He turns around walking out the back door again When he asked me if I wanted to do something fun I honestly thought we were gonna build a snowman or something. “You want me to shoot a gun?” I ask him in disbelief “Have you ever shot one?” I think he already knows the answer to that “I’ve never held an axe what would make you think I’ve shot a gun?” I c**k my head at him “I will help you trust me you’re going to love it.” He seems so excited how could I tell him no? He puts the gun in my hands before coming to stand behind me. My heart feels like it’s going to beat out of my chest. Partially from holding a gun and partially from the close proximity of Jack. “Make sure you keep the gun aimed at the ground for now. That’s your target out there, obviously the goal is to hit one.” He say pointing out in the distance to a bullseye target “Now put the butt of the gun against your shoulder, keep your finger off the trigger and hold down here with the other hand” he shows me how to hold it by putting his own hands over mine, his front pressed fully to my back I can feel the warmth of his body on mine. His breath on my neck is making it really hard to concentrate. “I’m going to help position you.” He says He puts his hands on my hips and turns me slightly then with his foot he nudges my legs a little farther apart. His hands on my hips feel nice. “You want to keep both eyes open while you aim, it’s not like in the movies. This gun doesn’t have safety so when you’re ready you just pull the trigger” he says stepping back. I want to protest at the loss of his body against mine. “Just take a deep breath and when you let it out pull the trigger” he tells me I take a deep breath in and hold it for a second. My hands are shaking somewhat from the cold but mostly from nerves. I slowly let out the breath and pull the trigger of the gun. It pushes back against my shoulder but it’s not as loud as I had expected it to be. I turn to Jack and smile. “I did it!” I yell being sure to keep the gun aimed at the ground “Do you want to shoot it again?” He smiles at my excitement and I shake my head yes Jack and I spent the next couple hours shooting guns. He let me shoot different shot guns and pistols. I missed the target every time and Jack didn’t miss once but I still had so much fun, who would’ve thought. There was also the fact Jack kept putting his hands on my hips and over my hands to help position me. I have to admit I asked for more help than I actually needed just to get him to touch me. When we get inside I take off my jacket and boots before going over by the fire to warm up. Jack went in his room then came back out wearing a long sleeve grey shirt with black sweat pants. Those must be his favorite colors and damn do they look good on him. He catches me staring at him so I turn my head back towards the fire place quickly. “Do you want a beer?” He asks “Yes please” I smile up at him I wiggle my toes in front of the fire finally getting some feeling back in them. Jack comes back with two beers and hands me one. I figured he would have learned from the first night not to give me alcohol, apparently not.
