Damon
The sound of my ringtone woke me from sleep. Blindly reaching out for my phone, I picked it up. "Salvador"
Someone chuckled at the receiving end "always so formal. Didn't you check the caller before picking up"
With his voice alone, I was able to tell who is speaking "why are you calling me so early Vincent? Don't you have an engagement party to prepare for?"
"You're right Damon, but I just had this feeling that I should inform you again and also remind you not to come without the girl"
If only he is close to me, I would have slapped him across the head "you know you actually keep behaving like Alexa more and more each day" knowing Vincent, he is going to take it as a compliment so I quickly clarified him "and that wasn't a compliment Vincent"
He chuckled at my response "make sure you will be able to say that in front of Alexa but that's by the way. How did it go with the girl? Were you able to fix things with her?"
Rubbing my hand down my face, I eyed the alarm clock close to my bed which showed that it's two o'clock in the morning "Vincent, did you call me this early fishing for gossip?"
"Well...I couldn't sleep, so I thought I should as well wake you up. So answer the question, did you guys make up? And please tell me you bought her chocolates"
Most times I wonder how he manages his father's company with this behavior "I'll see you later today Vincent and I'm coming with the girl"
"So you aren't going to give my any story? You know like her reaction when you showed up at her door step with flowers and chocolates?"
I checked my phone again to be sure it's Vincent on the line "what the f**k Vincent? What are you? A f*****g teenager looking for juicy gossip? Go catch some sleep Vincent, we don't want the groom-to-be looking like a zombie tomorrow" I didn't give him the chance to reply as I ended the call.
Knowing that I won't to catching any sleep anytime soon thanks to Vincent, I opted to handle some business back home. Pulling the duvet away from my leg, I stood up, stretched myself before heading to my home office.
Comfortably seated with a bottle of Scotch and a glass cup close to me, I powered my laptop and clicked on the file Alejandro sent to me earlier. The file contained a shipment record, the arrival of our shipment. But the dock used for the shipment isn't our regular shipping dock so I phoned Alejandro and he picked at the first ring as if expecting my call.
"¿Por qué recibimos nuestro envío en un muelle diferente?" I asked through clenched teeth, furious as to why I was never informed about the changes.
"El jefe exigido por más dinero"
So f*****g what if the demanded for more money? "¿Por qué no me consultaron? ¿Quién incluso autorizó el envío?"
"Your father did sir, he gave us the go ahead order"
bastardo "the next time you idiotas take order from any other person that isn't me, you will be laying at the bottom of Tagus and tell Nichólas that I'll be in Spain next week and he better have a good explanation as to why he increased the money"
"Si jefe"
I ended the call and dropped my phone. I think my father and I are over due for a conversation. When he handed the syndicate over to me, he should have understood that his time to give order is over.
I was still in my office, handling business matters when someone knocked on my door. The person at the other end opened the door when I granted him the permission to enter.
I was greeted by the face of my butler Simone "sorry to bother you Mr Salvador, but there is a young lady requesting to see you"
My first thought was Camilla "where is she?" I asked, already closing files on the table and suspending whatever work I was doing.
"She's outside, the security men refused to grant her access to the elevator"
I frowned at that, if Camilla is the one waiting at the elevator, she would have called me by now. "Did you get a name?"
"Miss Adrianna Doncaster"
My frown deepened, what the f**k is Adrianna doing here in New York and in my house at that? "Let her in"
Immediaiately he left, I walked straight to the mini bar and poured myself a glass of scotch while awaiting her arrival. I haven't seen her in three years not that I care, but I'm eager to see what she looks like right now.
The door to my office opened and I straightened my spine, masking my face of any emotion but the person who walked through that door first wasn't who I was expecting.
"Daddy!!!!" My four years old daughter Emily screamed, running straight towards me with her hands wide open. Still surprised to see her, I outstretched my own hands too and welcome her warm embrace. Laughing lightly, I tickled her before dropping her on the make shift bar. Sizing her up, I wondered when she became so big. The last time I saw her, she was just a year old.
"I miused you daddy"
I smiled at her pronunciation of missed "I've missed you too baby" I kissed her on the cheek "you've grown so big" I looked at the door wondering why Adrianna hasn't showed up yet "where is Mommy?"
She shrugged "said she wants to put the bags away"
What the f**k? As if on cue, the door opened and Adrianna walked in, her lips stretched in the widest smile "I see you both have seen each other"
I may not have taken antenatal classes with Adrianna, but I know it isn't right to argue in front of a child. I carried her, opened the door and told one of the guards positioned outside to get me Simone. He showed up within few minutes and I handed Emily to him.
She scrunched her face at Simone "who is he daddy?"
"He's the housekeeper honey, why don't you go with him so he can show you round the house?"
Still not convinced, she looked at her mother "house keyver?"
Adrianna smiled at her "yes princess, go with him so he can show you all the secret passages. I'm sure you want to know about them"
Her eyes widen at the mention of secret passages. She looked at Simone and smiled "lead the way Mister"
Simone smiled back at her, gave me a slight bow before he left with Emily. Immediaiately the door closed, I turned to Adrianna, my face void of any emotion whatsoever. "What are you doing here?" I asked, my calm voice covering the fury burning deep down.
"I brought Emily to see you of course" she answered nonchalantly. picking up my glass, she drank the remaining content "she kept complaining that she wants to see you and pictures weren't just working for her again"
"And you thought it is okay to just barge in on me?" What if Camilla was here for f**k sake? What was I going to tell her "you can't just barge in on me. Let today be the last time you try this s**t with me"
She ignored me as she carefully ran her fingertip at the edge of the canvas hanging on the wall "you weren't picking my calls Damon, what would you have me do? I had to gain your attention so this was the best resort"
"You have no reason calling me" I spat "I send money to your account at the end of every month, so you have no reason whatsoever to be calling me"
She folded her hands and faced me "and your daughter? The last time you saw her was three years ago when you walked out on us. You may have sent money every month posterior to that time but what about your daughter? Have you ever thought about how she's feeling about all these? Have you thought about how she feels growing up without a father?"
When Adrianna knows she's loosing a battle, she uses emotional blackmail as her backup "don't give me that s**t. If I want to see my daughter, I know where to find her and don't stand there giving me that crap about being an absentee father because you and I know that there is a possibility that Emily isn't mine"
Her hand covered her mouth as if I have said the unthinkable "you know Emily doesn't look like him_"
"She doesn't look like me either" I interrupted "she doesn't look like me or like Hardin because she inherited all your features. I just pray she doesn't inherit your character too"
She flinched from the insult "I messed up, I know but you don't have to slap it to my face using every slightest opportunity and you believe Emily isn't yours? why don't you agree to the DNA test so this is cleared up once and for all"
"Because unlike you, I'm being considerate. I don't want to drag Emily in the middle of all these but if you keep complaining or show up in my house again, then I'll be forced to take Emily away from you"
Her eyes narrowed "you wouldn't dare!! My father wouldn't let that happen and I sure do have the e backup of the law"
I laughed at her ideology "your father is nothing but a dirt in my shoe that I can clean off anytime I want. I made your father who he is out of the love I once had for you and I can easily take that life away from him. As for the law, since when have I ever given f**k about the law. And when all these will be happening, I'll make sure you watch and at the end I'll make you join your b***h of a mother in hell"
She opened her mouth to say something but I shut her up with my raised index finger "I want you to take whatever luggage you came with and get the f**k out of my house"
"But Emily came all the way from home to see you" she replied, her lips wobbling with tears
"I'll tell Donald to drop you off at one of my hotel. I'll come see Emily anytime I'm free. You are allowed to remain in New York for a week just because of my daughter after that, I want you in the next available flight back to Spain"
"But_"
"Get the f**k out!!!"
I called Donald to drop them off. I did not watch them go neither do I give a f**k about that b***h. If not for my daughter, she would have been in the belly of fishes.
