Portland Bound

Kana’s POV It’s going to be such a long drive to Portland, but I do love traveling with my parents in the car. Mom loves to sing to dad while he drives while I just look out the window and watch the scenery. I’ve been to Portland once, but it was for a quick trip where mom and I went to meet dad at the airport then we flew from there to Hawaii for a week for a quick summer trip a few years back. Their airport is way better than the airport in Las Vegas.  While we drive, I take in the mountains, lakes and animals that we pass by. It’s such a peaceful drive. There are so many ranches out here and the greenery is beyond beautiful. Saw a few deer, cows and horses enjoying their daily lives while eating grass. I take a quick nap and then dad wakes me up. We stop at a burger joint, get some food, use the bathroom and then get back into the car for the remainder of the trip. Since we left a few days early dad decided we camp for a few nights in the outskirts of Portland. My family loves to camp. We find our reserved campsite, setup our combined tent, tables and chairs while dad starts on the fire.  Dad decided to reserve a campsite this time so that we have a bathroom near us and a fishing port. Dad loves to catch fish and joined a fishing club on f*******: who told him that this campsite is a great spot to catch fish. Dad casts about 2 lines for him and one for me while mom starts cooking dinner. She throws a few steaks on the grill and some baked potatoes in the fire pit while I go out with dad to catch some fish. We eat dinner and with luck we caught 2 fish. I was so excited I told dad I wanted to wake up early and catch more fish with him since he said he was going to catch some in the morning since more fish are active around that time. So we clean up and then I knockout as soon as I hit my sleeping bag.  “Kana”, dad whispers to wake me up but not yet mom.  I wake up and he’s signaling me to come outside and he has our fishing poles in his hand. I get ready and run out so that I don’t miss the casting part. Dad casts his two fishing lines and then I wait to do mine. As dad sits next to me to put the worm on my fishing line I hear a twig snap and turn towards the bushes.  “Did you hear that dad?”, I whisper to dad alarmed.  “It could be early morning animals or birds just waking up. I don’t think it’s something to worry about, Kana. If it was a threat we would feel their presence” dad reminds me.  He is right. If we felt a threat our bodies would react to that presence and we did not. I knew for some reason that was not a small animal but like dad said I did not feel any threat so I watched to see if anything came out for a few minutes. Since nothing did I turned around as dad finished my line. I casted my fishing line out, sat by the water for a little bit and then we cleaned up and left to go wake mom up to start breakfast. Today felt like a good day. I hope I can catch some fish!  Meanwhile patrolling the Portland border Allister’s POV “Alpha Allister”, beta Jalen calls out to me.  Ugh this guy can be so annoying at times, but he is my best friend.  “Yes Jalen!”, I yell back.  “It looks like our border is strictly secure and we have added a few more warriors for this weekends Mating Ball”, says Jalen.  “Great I am so excited”, I annoyingly say back to Jalen.  I shift to my wolf form as I leave 3 of my mistress in my bed and run out to the front of our pack house. The air feels fresh and my wolf has been pushing for me to go out for a run. I need a good run anyways since I had a long 5 hour streak of pleasure last night. I run out to meet my Beta to double check our grounds and checkout the fresh shewolfs coming in from out of town.  “I am thinking about adding maybe 2 more to my harem. I’m not satisfied and quite bored at the moment. I need an adventure or something more exciting in my life” I say to Jalen.  “My King you have just become king within a few months and now 5 in your harem. Isn’t 5 enough for you?” laughs Jalen.  “If it was enough for me why would I ask for 2 more?” I smirk to Jalen as we run the border one more time.  Every year we have a ball for all unmated wolves to come to at age 18 to find their mates. I have not found my mate and I’m okay with that. I have 5 shewolves in my harem and I most likely will add 2 more after this ball. Every shewolf submits to me so I have no problem with adding a few more and I just don’t care.  As we run the border our wolves and I make sure that security is top notch since this will reflect my kingdom and how well we keep things in place. Not that I have any problems with my warriors since we are the most fierce pack. My gamma mind links me that a few campers on the east side camping ground built huge fire pits that are not allowed in the campsite due to high winds around this time. They have been causing trouble with the managers of the area who are in my pack. Of course me being me, I went to go watch my gamma handle this situation. Today felt like a great day. It’s been a while since I went out and let  my wolf wonder this far away from the castle.  I’ve been so busy with this ball and arrangements and my women that I forgot how lovely my kingdom really is. As I started trotting to catch up with my gamma while daydreaming of the new she wolves coming in I smelled the most alluring hint of cinnamon and vanilla. My wolf went nuts. All I wanted to do was find that smell. It made my whole body numb to the point that I instinctively walked towards the smell without knowing. I remember a mild smell like this before. When I took my cousin to the airport as he left to start college at UNLV as a freshman. I never found that smell after. I tried following it but it was gone and lost in the air as I tried to sniff where it went.   I started walking towards my gamma and when I was about to approach him I made a sharp left to the lake. The hairs on my body lifted and I could feel my ears go warm.  “Alpha! You must go behind the trees or bushes since there are people here camping. You do not look like a simple dog.” my gama mind linked me quickly.  That’s right I am in my wolf form. So I went behind the tallest tree surrounded by bushes. I saw a bunch of people around the whole entire lake fishing. It’s refreshing to see people still trying to fish and work for their own food. Life in the human world is really convenient for them since they can just buy things and in less than 5 minutes it’s done. I heard a harmonic laugh in the corner of the farthest tree down the lake. I followed the laugh til I could find the biggest bush to lie down next to.  I watched to find the person who made that angelic laugh. It was a female with a man. I can feel a strong aura in them. They must be magic folk. I walked back and hit a twig on the ground that snapped. The female snapped her head and asked the male if he heard something. He shook his head no and turned back to a fishing line. She turned her body halfway towards the bush. I felt like she was looking straight at my soul and that she knew I was there watching her. After about 5 minutes of us looking at each other she turns away and walks towards the stream to sit down by the water.  I was heartbroken when she left. Why would I be heartbroken to see her leave me. All I wanted to do was go near her and be by her and protect her. What is this feeling? Why do I want to be by her side forever and never let her leave my side?  “Alpha! The guests have started to approach the gate, we must start to head over there and it looks like you need a shower and to pretty boy up before we see them!” mind links my gama again.  “5 more minutes I have things to take care of” I mind linked back annoyed.  “If you would like, I can start showing our visitors their rooms while you take care of things? “ I know he is smirking right now thinking I found a new shewolf.  “I will be there in a few minutes and then we can greet our guests”, as I’m turning to look back at my angelic female.  “Okay Alpha!” as he waits quietly for me.  I turn to find who I was watching more like stalking to see that she was gone. And to make things even worse, I can’t find that scent of vanilla and cinnamon. I’m so annoyed with my gama as I lost the one person that interested me the most because of our early morning guests. I kept walking to see if I could find her. The man was gone as well. I wonder who he was to her. I wonder if he was her partner.  “I will rip his throat” says my wolf Lance angrily. I agreed with him. Why would I agree with him? I turn away and then look back one more time to find the female that enchanted my mind. She was nowhere to be found.  I will go to the castle, greet the guest and come back later tonight to find her.
